Disaster in the kitchen

The Mrs. wasn't keeping too well today and I used this opportunity to try what is called as "Molagushiyam" in kerala.....the dish is supposed to be baby stuff (preparation wise that is, not eating !)....just put whatever vegetables you want with moong dal into cooker and allow the thing to cook well. Then simply garnish and do some basic stuff to make it presentable.

"Whats starts bad, ends bad!"

I started with what I now realised - I put enough Dal to serve the entire Iselin district!
The rest followed like a programmed disaster :
- No whistle for more than 40 minutes.
- Poured more water and still no whistle.
- Finally a whistle that would have definitely woken the entire neighbourhood.
- The damn thing was filled to the brim ! It reminded me of the story of the 3 bears eating porridge out of a huge caldron !
- No salt....very little real estate to even mix the damn thing!
etc. etc. etc. etc .......ad infinutum !

Manju.....help !

Like a firefighter fixing a multistorey fire, Manju came to the rescue. She did something in 10 minutes that I was trying to achieve for the last 90 minutes, but of course she knew what she was doing ....unlike me !

Anyways, the dish was restored to "Molakoottal" or something like that !

But I have to say that the Okra curry was simply awesome....kuch tho tik aana tha !

Well, that's how the day ended....tomorrow'a another day....far far away from the kitchen area !
